Why the silence?

The past two and a half months have been very difficult.  Due to the cuts and changes integrated, all of our staff and and students are being effected.  It has tested us all. 

Throughout Ohio, we are seeing what happens when funding is cut from public education and the financial burden is pushed to the local communities to pick up the tab. If communities opt not to pass levies then schools have no choice but to make agonizing cuts.  It effects us all. 

The only way for schools to gain additional operating money is to put tax levies on the ballot.  Our problems will continue until we eventually pass a tax levy.  Meanwhile, students struggle to be able to participate due to rising costs.  It has put up a division of those that can afford it and those that can not. 

Ohio's Governor may pride himself on the job he has done saving money but he has also created financial problems for public schools and pushed it onto the local communities throughout Ohio.  Its hard for schools to stand up straight and keep carrying onward when they are financially bleeding from all of the cuts. 

Our situation is grave. As a Band Program, we are running out of time. The time is now.

We are proud of the students in the band who worked though the $395.00 pay to play over the past seven years.  The last four years in a row they actually qualified for State Marching Band Finals and received an Excellent Rating.  This has only happened 11 times overall in school history.  They did it for their community.  They did it for York, Litchfield and Valley City.  They are proud of where they live.  We want our students to have opportunities.  We want to be proud of Buckeye.  We want the community to come together.   We only have one option to fix the funding woes of our district.  We need to pass a levy.  Like it or not.  Our district is slowly being dismantled with each failed levy attempt.  Make no mistake, we are not giving up but we are all hurting.  Nobody will come to the rescue either.  It is up to you Buckeye!

 18 years without new operating money........  There's a momentum growing to end this August 7th.  Lets Go Buckeye.  We need you!  Your support will not be forgotten!
